Confusion over sex and gender in rape case

From The Times in the UK: “Hospital staff advised police that a patient could not have been raped because her alleged attacker was transgender, the House of Lords has been told.” The hospital allegedly told police officers that the rape was not possible “because no male was there”.

They also report that now, around a year later, the hospital agrees “that there was a male on the ward and, yes, this rape happened”. Source.
