The table below reveals the COVID-19 cases and deaths in Australia as at 17/07/2021, broken down by age groups, as reported by the Australian Government’s Department of Health, with CFRs (case fatality rates) calculated by us. Source. 

Australia has had no deaths from people 0-19. Australia has had 5 deaths up to 49 years. The vast majority of Australia’s deaths are from 70 years and up. Australia’s CFRs are very low up until the 60s or 70s.

Rather than opt for age-based targeted lockdowns, Australia has instead enforced lockdowns that affect all age groups. Source.
