COVID vaccine safety. No long-term data

Note: Much of the focus for Okay Then News of late has been on the necessity and efficacy of the COVID vaccines, with a relatively small amount of attention given to safety. Over the coming days and weeks that shall be rectified.

In deciding whether to use a medicine many people look to long-term safety data, which may seem justifiable given that several approved medicines have been withdrawn from the market years after approval due to previously unknown adverse effects. Source.

As noted in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, with regards to the current crop of COVID vaccines, “these vaccines are new, we lack long-term data on their safety and efficacy”. Source.
