Unlike the situation with the proposed regional leagues that UEFA and FIFA wholeheartedly endorse, which actually do involve top clubs breaking away from their domestic competitions and leaving their smaller peers behind, the clubs behind the European Super League intended to “remain in their domestic competitions”, as reported by CBS, simply replacing their participation in the UEFA Champions League with participation in their own continental competition. Source.
