It’s nice to take a little breather from all the mainstream COVID lies, especially with some big COVID-related stories in the works, while still exposing the general antics of the mainstream media. The BBC admits it spread misinformation about Nigel Farage being effectively cancelled by a bank. Source.
Okay then.
And over in the US, the New York Times, apparently forgetting that the freedom of the press (including the freedom to hold our leaders accountable) is indelibly tied with free speech, asks: “Is misinformation protected by the First Amendment? When is it appropriate for the federal government to seek to tamp down the spread of falsehoods?” Source.
Okay then.
Extra: For those who legitimately don’t know, our liberal Western principles should result in the emphatic answers, “Yes!” and “Never!” Combine that with the many instances of government lies we’ve discussed here (it’s just about our M.O.), and you can see why it’s probably not the best idea to give our leaders the power to control what we’re allowed to talk about.
