No Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in India
Authorities continue to state that “the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA vaccine is safe and effective”. Source.
After learning that this vaccine has had struggles in becoming available in India, we find out why via a couple of Reuters articles. Reuters reported early last year that “Pfizer Inc... had withdrawn an application for emergency-use authorisation of its COVID-19 vaccine in India, after failing to meet the drug regulator’s demand for a local safety and immunogenicity study.” They added: “India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation… said on its website its experts did not recommend the vaccine because of side effects reported abroad were still being investigated.” Source. Later last year Reuters also reported that the “Indian government has also declined to meet the U.S. companies’ [this pertained to Moderna as well] requests for legal protection over any side-effects from the use of their shots”. Source.
Okay then.
