Swedish 'no-lockdown' architect lands WHO job
We reported earlier on the apparent successes of the ‘no-lockdown’ strategy of Sweden in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. As reported by Reuters, “the architect of Sweden’s unorthodox response to the coronavirus pandemic, Anders Tegnell has got used to receiving death threats and being urged to resign”. Source. Forbes also reported on the criticism of Tegnell’s strategy, leading with the headline “Sweden, Under Fire For Coronavirus Strategy, Pushes Back On WHO Criticism”, and stating that “Anders Tegnell, continues to push back against accusations that Sweden has fumbled its pandemic response and that the country is at risk of a resurgence of the disease”. Source.
Now Reuters reports that Tegnell “is stepping down as chief epidemiologist to take up a role at the World Health Organization (WHO)”. Source.
Okay then.
Note: A little extra. The Reuters article goes on to note: “A commission, appointed by the government after pressure from the opposition, concluded this month that not enough had been done to halt the spread of the virus in the early stages of the pandemic but personal liberties had been respected and that the voluntary strategy had been broadly right.”
Okay then.
