Vaccine failure, booster shots needed, no data
CDC Director Dr Rochelle Walensky, appearing on NBC’s Today show, said that a 3rd, booster, shot of the coronavirus vaccine is necessary [mere months after ‘full vaccination’] because “the vaccine is starting to wane in its effectiveness against infection... we’ve also seen that we actually need more protection against the delta virus, and we’re starting to see in other countries that they’re starting to see waning infection against more severe outcomes… we’re staring to see waning in infection, we think that that may result soon in waning in severe disease”. Okay then.
In the same appearance, after being asked about whether there is hope or data that getting the booster shot can prevent transmission, Walensky said that “there’s actually hope, we don’t have data yet”.
Okay then.
When then challenged with the notion that the 3rd shot’s effectiveness would likely wane since that is what happened with the first 2 shots and that regular boosters may be necessary, Walensky said “I don’t think we know that”.
Okay then.
