Wuhan lab leak conspiracy theory
Until very recently people wondering if COVID-19 came from a lab in Wuhan, China were effectively branded conspiracy theorists by mainstream news outlets like CNN, who said that “Theories about a laboratory leak being the source of the coronavirus pandemic sound like something out of a comic book” and that there were “outright ridiculous conspiracy theories” such as that “SARS-CoV-2 was the result of a laboratory accident or was intentionally engineered, and this was concealed to hide either spectacular incompetence or a complex international conspiracy”. Source.
As of May 2021, however, news outlets like CNN have seemingly given people permission to speculate thusly, noting the possibility that “there was an accidental leak followed by a criminal cover-up” , how Dr Anthony Fauci, “the top infectious disease expert in the US, also said this week he is not convinced the disease occurred naturally and pushed for more investigation”, and that there is “ample evidence the Chinese government tried to cover the existence of the virus up”. Okay then.
