Yet another "rant" from your "Yank Loving Aussie. I would have thought that due to the report (profession) that Joe Biden was "mentally impaired" would have excluded the possibility (or REVERSE) the pardon given to Hunter Biden. When I first got notified of the pardon, I was anxious to see a Volley of activity from my American Friends, but to my surprise, nothing thus far.
The time span of the pardon is to prevent Hunter being prosecuted for any of the graft and corruption in the family Ukraine dealings.
The obvious solution is to put Hunter under oath and ask him questions about the Ukraine corruption. Ask him about payments to Joe and James. Ask him about who else knew. Take his testimony and compare it to documentable financial transfers, emails, public appearances, etc. Do the same to Joe and James. Then prosecute them all for perjury. His pardon won't protect him from that. Also, the depositions should take place outside of the Washington DC area, somewhere deep red. Then when they are prosecuted for perjury they won't have an overly sympathetic jury which will nullify the conviction.
The most interesting question of the moment is why now? I expected Joe would pardon both Hunter and James in mid January. Was it merely to prevent Hunter from spending a few weeks in jail between his December sentencing and his eventual pardon? Was it so Joe can resign and Kamala can pardon him? Was it because they are planning to 25th amendment Joe?
Biden pardoning his son for GOP witch hunt on fabricating a government form & back taxes which rarely get prosecuted, is bad to you but electing a convicted felon who commited over 90 felonies, convicted of over 30, is a thief who stole TS docs to share/sell, is a child rapist, reads at a 4th grade level, and owned by Putin. sheesh
Raphael, you're not at my point of view, you're at another. The reason I follow you is (a) because of that and (b) because your arguments are not diatribes but contained and controlled. So, do you think Mr Trump will "shake up shit" (you're allowed to smirk at this point) and, if so, how will he do it that was different to the French Revolution?
That's where we are, isn't it? The established mode of governance has been sufficiently cast into doubt for the railings of the opposition to gain currency and legitimacy. But how do you shake up shit without executing the king?
When James II of Britain fled to France in the Glorious Revolution, he chucked the Great Seal of Office into the River Thames, thinking - erroneously - that doing that would bring the machinery of government to a grinding halt. James sadly failed to realise there is a difference between appropriating power and appropriating the facile symbols of power.
I will continue to follow you - avidly perhaps. Thanks for this: by the way, I was stunned when I heard the news. I knew he was a conniving genocidal maniac and, for all his 'Let me be clears', he was never clear on anything, and here's the proof.
Follow-up from NPR @ 07:45 am: even Democrats object...imagine that!
"Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis criticized President Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, saying it sets a “bad precedent.”
This is a bad precedent that could be abused by later Presidents and will sadly tarnish his reputation,” Polis wrote on the social platform X. “When you become President, your role is Pater familias of the nation.”
Another fine example of the «enshittification» of justice for the high-level political masters in the US.
Didn't know that was a word, but it works!

OTN isn't about who's right and wrong, but about highlighting the misinformation, lies, and hypocrisies of the people we are told to trust.
